Dmitry Rukavishnikov

Dmitry Rukavishnikov (36 years old) was identified as a participant in the clashes taking place on May 6 and taken to Moscow for the court to rule on the applicable pre-trial restrain in his case. Dmitry Rukavishnikov, who is also an assistant to the State Duma parliamentarian Ilya Ponomarev , barely managed to send word that he was to be charged with participation in mass riots because of his attempts to topple a portable toilet on Bolotnaya Square.

Dmitry Rukavishnikov was born on August 29, 1977 in Baku, Azerbaijan. His father, Valery Rukavishnikov, was a lecturer in philosophy at the Baku University of Education. Mother, Nina Shopen, was a maths teacher.

In 1990 the whole family were forced to flee Baku because of the inter-ethnic clashes, moving to Shuya. In 1999 Rukavishnikov graduated from the State University of Education in Shuya, majoring in sociology and political sciences, and in 2009 he also received a degree in personnel administration from the North-Western Academy of Civil Service sponsored by the Russian President. He started his career working as a school teacher in Shuya. In 2011 he got married and moved to live and work in the city of Ivanovo.
