Graduate of Moscow College of Math. Officially unemployed, he worked in the creative arts. Vegetarian. He suffers from chronic gastritis and fallen arches.
Andrei Barabanov was detained on May 6th on accusations of refusing to obey the police and sentenced to 24 hours ofadministrative arrest. On May 28th he was arrested again forparticipating in the May 6 demonstrations. He is currently charged with “assaulting a police officer” (I, 318, Criminal Code) and “calling for mass disturbances” (III, 212, Criminal Code). Although he does not consider himself a member of anypolitical party or movement, he firmly opposes the current regime.
Barabanov was detained on May 28th, 2012 in his apartment, and has been held in prison since then. The court ruled Barabanovmust be imprisoned pre-trial, because his soccer fan and anarchist friends make him liable for escape. The court also expressed concern over Barabanov’s motor scooter. Barabanov pleads guilty to statute 318 “violence which does not endanger the life or health of a police officer” which he was accused of on the basis of a video where he kicks the bullet-resistant vest of a special forces (OMON) officer. He pleads not guilty of statute 212.2 “participation in massive disturbances of public order” on the grounds that there were no massive disturbances of the public order on Bolotnaya Square.
